1951 GMC Rear End and Transmission Upgrade. We started out with the standard 3 speed manual transmission with no syncro and the stock rear end with the close driveshaft. We are changing the rear to a 1957 Chevy and the width looks good. I am upgrading the standard transmission to a turbo 350 automatic. We are keeping the straight six in the truck for a while. So far the process is flowing pretty smooth. We purchased a rebuilt turbo 350, an adapter plate kit that came with a new starter and flywheel. Purchased an old 1957 Chevy rear we checked the bearings, seals, added new brake shoes and wheel cylinders. Added 2 inch lowering blocks to the rear end and we also had to purchase new spring perches, Willie Moore StreetRodding.com
