Pulled outta here @ 0 dark thirty Friday am,made it to Terre Haute Indiana, the first nite.
Work up to a cool 11 degrees, pulled out @ 3 am, and around the Ohio state line
I see cop, wrecker, and emergancy lites off in the distance, so I slow to a crawl,
car flipped (read--black ice) BTW it's now a balmy 8 degrees)
I idle thru the scene and tap the throttle, woops
The truck and trailer do a 360, I get it under control and head for the first off ramp and check my shorts. CLEAN !!!
Now boggie on down to get to my desitination 30 miles NE of Erie PA.
Oh yeah, been drivin in snow storm all the way from Dayton Ohio.
25 miles from my destination, it's a "white out" ---Followed a snow plow for 25 miles,1 1/2 hr.
Get there , go to unload, and it's so DAMN COLD the flatty won't even fart.
Push it in the new owners garage (not heated) and screw with it for 45 minutes to get it to lite.
Grab the rest of my $$$$$ and gotta go.
Got people to see and places to go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Found anutter snow plow to follow back to Erie and said "screw it, I'm stayin there.
And boys, even got a "Real Hotel" a Marriot.
Check in and the girl tells me to park the rig "Down on the end", soooo
I spin it around for a quik exit in the A.M. and the trailer drops 2 wheels in a hole (covered by the 2 1/2 ft of snow) Truck won't pull it out !
So call a wrecker, $27.50 a foot sounds right to pull it 10 ft don't it?
Go grab a "surf and turf" and I'm good to crash.
Up @ 3am and it -5 out, took 1/2 hr for the ole cummins to warm up.
Never saw it over 14 degrees until I hit the Indiana state line.
Comin thru Misey wasn't to bad saw it get up to 25.
Hit the Oklahoma state line and with in 15 miles it was 55 degrees (mind you it's 4 am.)
Smooth sailin all the way home from there.
Pull in, unload, and spent all day gettin the salt and what ever else they throw on them roads off the trailer.
My black truck is white. Fun day tomorrow.
Oh yeah--found this
NICE!! What is under the hood?
Bet you're glad to be home my friend. Whatcha gunna do with this one? Got any of that green paint left?
Look's good Don, what's it got under the hood?
Glad you made it back with no damage. I have towed on slick roads before and that is no fun at all. The coupe is looking good. I am sure that you will be doing some fine tuning on it. I am shocked...... No Fenders.......
Glad you made it OK--jsut love the North eastern winters
Glad you made it back ok Dod. Dixie & me can bring our sawzalls, start on each side an meet in middle. Whada U think? Want roadster or sport coupe? Dixie might bring sum jd green for the wheels.
Nice coupe, not sure if you will be able to drive it with those tiny headlights though.
Glad you survived the quick trip to snow country. Gottal love that black ice.........................Lets see how long you can keep this one..............
I'm not gonna say a word {{ GREEN }} Please leave that beatiful grille like it is if u want change the color behind it but not the grille, time for a change,i like it wanna trade ?
By the way next time think about where u gonna go trucking to in the middle of the winter, been there done that your dam luckey my friend u had a great co pilot [let u guess who ]
Coupe does look good, see what happens sure you already have some ideas. Great sounding trip, white knuckle stuff been on black ice can pucker your rear real fast, sure it did, glad there was no damage.
Here we go again no GREEN on this 1 Dixie, but I will trade ya grilles
Jeff may want the wheels and tires, so sumthin differant there 4sure.
Davy J is right about the headlights, gotta go
And Gary, that probably was me that got Jake goin, caouse as I was flyin
down the 44 the 6" sewer pipe exhaust on the Cummins gets pretty loud when yer
gettin after it with a load.
This is a very poor time to deliver a car. Most of us come November put our cars away till Spring when no chance of snow and above all SALT are no longer on the roads. Why did the new owner want delivery now???
RAF
Paint it green and bring it to NY.
Good lookin 3 window - should have had you just kept on motoring to arizona and parked it in my garage and put the 40 in the trailer
for the trip back to okie
Nope got a grille like it just think u should leave it stainless ok how much for the wheels no tires at lest not www.
Bet its got a ford under there.Nice new rig Don. What state did you find it in?
Good talkin' to ya last night brudder. Looks like a nice little build but with wheels, tires and headlights it will look RIGHT!
Hey Don. You're still in "preferred" parking at LARS with that coupe. I'd be happy to park next to it, but I just can't imagine you not bein among the roadsters. I know, I know, it's still 5 months away, but I'm gittin kinda concerned about ya.
Thanx 4 the concern Roberto, but ya never know.
That Vintage heat and air sure was nice this morning (the heat part)
and the a/c would B nice runnin out 40 to LARS in June.
Yeah Dixie, it's got a SBF in it, but 347 cu.in.
Lotsa h.p. and with 3:00 gears it's long legged.
Even longer when I put 33 inch tall tires on it.
Guess I'm leadin the pack again ????????????
At 120 MPH and 2200 RPM I don't think anyone else would DARE lead the pack!
OK - I LIKE DON THINK HOTRODS SHOULDNT HAVE FENDERS - BUT IF YOU GUYS COME THRU ARIZONA - I WILL LEAD THE WAY
IN MY LAST RDSTR - HERE IS A PICTURE ON MY 60 TH BIRTHDAY - KNOWING THAT DON LIKES TO GIVE PEOPLE A BAD TIME
ONCE IN AWHILE - MY TURN - A ROADSTER WITH NO FENDERS I WILL LEAD THE WAY FROM HERE LOL
Now that there is sum FuNnY Sh*t Gary !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Never known Don to turn down a challenge... there must be a 200" wheelbase '32 roadster being built in a quiet shop in Oklahoma as we speak!
HEY YOU GUYS ARE GREAT - ONE OF THE BIGGEST PROBLEMS WE HAVE IN THIS COUNTRY AT THIS TIME IS THAT PEOPLE

WE HAVE A REUNION FOR BAKERSFIELD FOR A CLUB WE STARTED IN THE 50S WITH THE LATEST COUNT OF 28 GUYS
LIFE IS GOOD
THANKS TO YOU ALL
Never enough humour, just thinking abour a Ford in a Ford brings a grin!
Don I think this one should be a deep purple, that is something not seen too often..........................................
Dixie sounds like it will be about 100 mph to keep up this year. O well. "On the road rodding with our friends". Life is good. Buddy.
1 positive note guys,
ya won't have to listen to that loud ole "Flatty"
And Buddy, we never went over 100 last year did we?
maybe 98 or so !!!!!!!!!
So Dixie, ya can leave yer hearing aids turn on !!!!!
Yea u may b right on one part ,but don't count your chickens before they hatch ford in a ford just ant right b dam careful what u say about them little mouse motors u may get rat bit.
Sell that boy to some of them blue oval lovers, get back with the bowtie guys.
I doubt that mouse of Dixie's will even be able to keep up with that FORD. Don will surely have to lead and maybe tow that mouse.
Don,---sounds like you experienced the best Ohio had to offer, weatherwise. You should have come across I-76 to I-80 to I-79N to Erie .M uch less snow.. You probably did well not to stop here for my wifes cooking, Ooopps,---did I say that?
Denny, you might be wise to hire a food taster now!
Don - what kind of rpms where you turning with the flatty at 70-75 - rear gears and tire size would help
thanks Gary
Wanna make a friendly wager BUZZ ?
By the way ant no ford gonna tow this mouse .HOW ABOUT FORD ENGINE BLUE
Buddy better bring alot of ford parts an a big blue tow strap with for fords only on it. Gonna b a good one this year ,just one thing ant gonna b know breakfast burittos in CL for me. Gotta go with Buddy on the bacon & eggs this time.
Buddy i don't think that ford could run 100 mph for very long without coming apart. By the way this little mouse u see here is also long legged 3.00 w/33 in tires how about that.Jim, I heard about those burritos! They said they made you bring up the rear cuz nobody wanted to follow you!
SPARE GAS TANK - GOOD DEAL
Gary, Had 3:00's in a 9" tires were 33 inches tall
Didn't have a tach on it, but sure wasn't twistin hard.

Don u better try my hearing aids that thing was turing 4 to 5 k easy sound like a dam bunch of bees coming at you. Thats why everyone got out of your way they were scared something was gonna get um.
NO kidding i think it was turning around 6,000 at 70/75 love that gas.Dixie the only ford parts I got leftare 3r4 mavrick rears and deuce rear frame rails that were cut about 1" past where the revel ends. Bet Charly will be glad to hear we might be a little closer to his & Cobbs speed.
wow!! the guy is already selling the vicky.
PROBOO WHERE IS THE CAR LISTED
Just saw it myself on Hot Rod Hotline Gary.
Oh well, it's his puppy now, real don't care what he did with it after I got my $$$$$$$$$
Makes me wonder what he was thinking. Funny, I don't understand how Don DOESN'T get emotionally attached to his cars after he's loved and cared for them. If I were you I'd probably be pissed, but I know it doesn't bother you.
I think I expect the new owner to love and care for the car just like I did. Not too likely, and maybe this guy thinks he can flip it for a few bucks. Either way, looks like you made out fair on both ends of the deal. Good job bro!
At the $$$$$$$ he's ASKING he's already upside down
So how does the new ower get title in his name that quick--or is he just assigning the title along..Just curious
Sure looks good setting in the SNOW!!
All boils down to, I've had my fun with em,
so time to move on.
Ain't that what life is about, Variety ?
It's just a car.
I wouldn't know about that sort of thing.
Think I may have it figured out "maby". Don will wash them 1 maby 2 times, but when its time for oil change it has gotta go. Thats just one dunnys thankin. Buddy.
Haa Haa, can't go with that one....
Don had a fresh oil change in the delivery when we bought it. Also threw in a gas can, and an old blanket. We did leave him with a roll of nasty mauve upholstery fabric.
Probably took it to Quik Lube then sold it to you.
Hey Don--did the transmission fluid trick on the 40. Warmed it up, fast idle 1500rpm plus, dribbled it in. damn thing would not make smoke--OK more is sometimes better, poured ounce or so in pretty quick. Now were making smoke !! Ran probably 8 ounces through it. Ran it little hard about 10 miles does seem alot better. Running down I-35 in lower gear about 70 to clean it out looked over pickup next to me. Old man, probably near 80 years old, with ear flap cap tied tightly under his chin round face all you saw. Grinning ear to ear and no teeth giving me thumbs up. Looked like a comic book picture, grinned most of the way home thinking thats what I will look like another 15 years, Oh well.
Glad the tranny fluid trick help ya out a little Gary,
Ya sure that wasn't me in that ole pickup ?
I do take my teeth out @ times !!!!!!!!
whats the deal don - been looking around for a semi 32 roadster project and the prices are twice what the cars at barrett jackson are going
for LOL
whats the deal don - been looking around for a semi 32 roadster project and the prices are twice what the cars at barrett jackson are going
for LOL - and no one wants my 40
somethings never change
Gary, Guys with projects started buyin parts (@retail) 4-5 years ago, and have , lets say 35k in it and won't face reality that the
economy is in the sh*tter.
They're tryin to recoup what thave got in it.
When in reality, they're sittin on 20-23 k in parts and still gotta paint it, (6 -10K)
And trim it (4-7K)
and the ole lady is sayin, "Don't put another dime in that thing and sell it"
So thet're stuck on gettin their $$$back.
Ain't gonna happen !
Go over to BJ today and buy an Yellow /Orange 32 3 window I sold 5 years ago there for 65K
Bet it goes for under $40
Such is life.
Don - understand everything you said - probably the only reason i got out of the street scene for awhile - when i sold the 5 window never
looked back and it didnt take 5 years to build - yellow car is nice looking -
Thanks
by the way buying is easy - but selling i cant believe the bs. you go thru - your skin has to be alot thicker than mine
Went for 38,500
Hey DON has thick skin made of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$almost afraid to ask Don - what do you know about the quality of the new 32 rdst body being built by spirit
and being sold in tucson
