I heard about Big Al and know that he is home and his family can use our prayers and support. As Shine mentioned in the beginning of this post he and Eriq are why StreetRodding.com exist. This site is more than just a great hangout...it is family!
Thanks to all our StreetRodding.com family.... it means a lot!
best to rest and heal up.............. you do not want the dog to come off the porch .
of course i do good to even growl right now . tried to bark yesterday and pooped on myself.....
best wises Al on a speedy recovery-
Best to you AL. Things get better in time. I just had open heart 3 months ago and just now getting back to normal. I am sure it wont take you that long.
Maybe we can start a Streetrodding.com heart healthy diet club! We can determine how many calories we burn waxing, washing and working on our hot rods and then make sure we watch our liquid diet intake- LOL We will be the best looking car guys/and gals on the Internet! Maybe there will even be a calendar!
i challenge each of you to get a complete physical and a chest ex-ray.......
i do it every year. dont hurt a bitGood idea Shine,I just got checked from where it goes in till it comes out including chest xray and breathing and heart stress test.not fun but glad its over.
it's a given i'm gonna die of something but it wont be from stupid. i've buried far too many people who just would not go.
This is what happens when you take a few day's off and No internet! Al, Take it easy and get better- sometimes all it takes is a wake up call and a guy wises up and changes habits. Thinking about here in middle of the country.
Thoughts and prayers from the east coast....Get better Al....

Mac . . . . I think I know where you're coming from . We pretty much know each other on here . I hope we can joke around a little .
Seriously . . . . I had my heart attack in 1988 . Had angioplasty ( no stints then ) Went home and 10 days later it closed up again . Went back in to have angioplasty done over . Went home and was anxious for a long time . If I left home I wanted to know where the nearest hospital was . Started walking a couple miles a day . In 1992 I started having problems again . Failed a stress test . Went back in for another angioplasty . Cardiologist could not Thread the needle " , so to speak . Did double bypass the next day .
In 2006 I almost died from A Fib and accute tacycardia . Got a implanted device ( defibrillator ) . In 2009 just before Pigeon Forge my defibrillator fired . Needless to say I didn't go to P Forge . I was a frequent flyer to the ER for a while . Tried to control it with drugs . Wasn't totally successful . Electrocardiogist ablatted a coupe spots on the heart and I got a new pacemaker / defibrillator . My life depends on this thing now , If it quits , I quit .
If I make it 'till the 15th of this month I"ll be 71 .
Stay healthy my friends .
i have been blessed with exceptional health in my adult life. at times i almost feel guilty . my blood pressure is fine , my circulation is exceptional even in my feet.
being a painter i stayed on top of my health. yearly check up on my birthday and a chest ex-ray every other year.
this cancer was not totally unexpected which made it a little easier to cope with. i caught it early as possible and hopefully will not have a recurrence. but had i not been so diligent i would have been in serious trouble in a few years. i lost my dad to cancer in 2002 and my sister a couple of years ago. both waited until it was too late.
and i am a texan , thick skinned and bullheaded. besides i have known this bunch since 03 .
Best wishs Al. GodSpeed
Hang in there Big Al! Will keep you in our prayers.
Some Northern prayers added for Al, Talked with him a few years back at Daytona Turkey run, I am another who will say listen to the Drs, and do what you are told. Take care and heal properly before getting back in the swing...................
Been there, done that. Good luck man, listen to the doc.
Thoughts and prayers for you, and thanks for all you've done to bring the people of this great hobby together. Off all the sites out there, this one has been the most helpful to me and I'm sure many others. Thanks again.
Big Al, will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hope you get back on your feet soon.
Big Al, We are praying for a quick recovery!
Al,------Sorry to be late to the party"so to speak". Was down in W. Virginia for an extended weekend cruise and show, with some vacation time mixed in. It was NOT meant to be. Arrived home late Saturday and didn`t get the news until late yesterday. It seems as though all is going well. I hope you have a full and speedy recovery. We`ll keep you in our prayers.
get well AL
Big Al wishing you a speeding recovery
Thoughts and prayers to you Al!
any updates on the ole round one......
Godspeed Big Al - Semper Fi
I doubt you recall but I met you once at the Dade City show, met Dixie there too.
And fellow rodders - it's just a suggestion, but I nominate Dixie as the unofficial West Florida Coast butt kicker
to ensure Big Al does what the doc says!!!
What say you Jim??
Regards,
Bob D.
well the word is al is home and mending. like me not allowed to do diddly squat so i'm sure he's going nuts. but thats a short trip

Thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery Al
Al your in our prayers get well soon
Mobley you have a week to get to az so i can buy ya a beer for your birthday and plan on the same thing for next year
Mac . . . . . OHHH How I wish I could be with ya and have a couple of cold ones . I was stationed at Ft Huachuca in 1965 for a short time . Did get a pass to cross the border at Nogales once . As they say . . . a good time was had by all ! ! ! Probably get shot grave yard dead now . AZ was hot but not as much humidity . When I got back to GA . it was hard to breathe . Lots of officers on post . After hours we sometimes walked to the PX to quafe down a few 3.2 beers . One eagle eye guy would watch out for officers cars so we all could salute . They ate that stuff up .
Hang in there Al . . . . .You'll be doing laps before you know it . Not running , just walking .
