Should be a # on the base plate
IF YOU CANT FIND IT - GOOGLE AFB COMPANY IN LOOK FOR ONE IN NEW MEXICO THEY CAN TALK YA THRU IT - BUT LIKE DON SAYS THER
SHOULD BE A NUMBER ON BASE
Carter made the first AFBs =aluminum four barrell........ in 1960 for the Chevy Daytona BB engine.
Edelbrock coppied the Carter AFB and has a contractor make it for them. .
Summit makes a AFB.
CAUTION:......Edelbrock thinned the brass float assembly 3 years ago to save bucks. A stock China OEM style SB Chevy pump has TOO much pressure for these cheap floats. Use a fuel pressure gauge and set regulator at 6.5 psi.
Also, use a 1" phenolic spacer to avoid percolation.
I learned the hard way with 2 new Edelbrock carbs even though 4 Edelbrock techs said no regulator required with OEM pump.....duuuh ?

Optimum fuel pressure for Edelbrock is 5.5 psi according to Edelbrock. I had to add a fuel pressure regulator because stock mechanical pump was putting out a little over 7 psi. I've played around and ended up with a final setting of 5 psi on my 1406 and has been running very well. Use a quality pressure regulator and ga uge.
Is Predator carbs still around?
My Boss got a bad one out of the box too about a year ago.. the casting itself was cracked (leaked fuel mysteriously)... I had good luck with my #1406. But, Federal Mogul was making them then (early 90's I think).
I have no idea if Predator carbs are still around or not-----------sorry.
You can find them on ebay if you're looking for one.
