GeneF My 37 Chevy has a 327 with a manual fuel pump. From the pump up to the inline fuel filter someone has formed up a copper fuel line. Nice job, just that I think I recall somehwere hearing that this is a no-no. Anyone hear tell of this? If it is a no-no, why? I see where I can get the stell line from OPGI if need be. I'm ok at forming line, but I have tried these before, and there is a realy sharp bend immediately out of the fuel pump, and they must use a mandrell of some kind to form these without kinking the line, and still flaring the end with the nut on it....

Problem with copper as it fiberates it gets harder and then cracks . A good tubing bender works fine  I have one from snap on and bends very tight on a quarter  w/ 3/8 line

Agree--no on the copper lines. Was used quite a bit on drag cars for a fuel collant line. Normally coiled in some sort of container then dry iced----but those were replaced long time ago after a couple good fires.

Thanks.  I'll get my replacement ordered.  I have several benders, so I may give it a try at home, or elect to just cough up a few bucks and save myself the aggrivation.

Put a 90 fitting out of the pump and you won't need that bend. Also just go to NAPA or  whatever and get a steel line with the inverted flare already on it in the length you need.Couple small bends and you are in it for under$5.Get that 90deg to take the inverted flare you need.

Our Chevy Beuville van turned 41 last week. Got it's 5 year pressure washer bath instead of cake.

I have patched tank & fuel line with JB Weld and  #14 sheet metal screws for years. Finally got a new  tank and a roll of 3/8" rubber fuel line.....the old Yuba is go to go for another 41 years.

    Keep on truckin', Jim

He changed it all i heard that next week it pays to invite the NSRA safety team to our shows.  bob s

Bsa_bob.................I got one crazier then that........

We were cruizn NSRA Nats East when it was at Timonium, 1979. Here comes a '34 Studebaker coupe body....on a sheet of 1" plywood.....on a '55 Chevy truck chassis/6 cylinder........no lower firewall......battery was under dash with no way to keep it in the coupe if he jamed the brake pedal.........steering column was bolted to dash with 1/4" allthread horseshoe.......column was connected to steering box with 3/4" EMT.....drilled & pined at each end with 10 penny nails !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He came to our Southern Maryland Street Rod Run a month later and was denied entry..........wonder why ??

I will try to find pix & post.

Steering & brakes,  key ingredients to a safe vehicle.

    Keep kroozen, Jim
