The tradition show in Pomona Ca, known as the LA Roadster show on Father's Day !
Just a little up date as the show was taken over by John Buck last year as he is a promoter of car shows/ As the people went out there said it was very poor attendance for cars and people ! I for one drove my 32 roadster out there with my Austrian side kick Rodney Frood and the rest of the Great Gray Beards ! When we got there to enter every time we have been there, they pretty much tell you where to park and make you park about 5 feet from the next car over ! That should of been a clue as we pulled in nobody telling us where to park ! So we go and find a spot and park and there is hardly no cars and that is very weird ! The closet car parking next to me was about 30 feet away and that was one of our group ! Any way enough of last years ! Heard through good source the entrance fee is $50.00 (thats what pissed people off) pre registered is $35.00 which in all terms isn't bad as for all the years I have gone , since 1982 and if you drove in a finished painted roadster it was free pre 37 and down ! Ok ,times have changed ! But now they opened it up to 1977 and down ! In my opinion they have destroyed the show and the LA Roadster older members have to be rolling in there graves !

  • Thanks Jeff for the back to the fifties information. It is soon enough that I can not make it. I remember comments about the bad highway conditions, hope it is better for you this year. I put a larger fuel tank in the 40 and the exhaust wants to occupy the same space as the new tank so cutting it out. I am in the process of a new exhaust system, including headers and mufflers. I recall how much you liked following my car on 66 because of the drone it would set up way back in your car so that should be better now. (sounded fine in my car) Remember your sweet blue car?
Dixie, Louisville sounds really interesting. Our Australia mates have been bothering me about that one too. I will have to see how it fits in with the rest of the plans. I am going to hit the road this year. By the way, there is a car in Tampa I am interested in, don't be surprised if you get a call out of the blue to see if I can drop by.

  • Hey Dixie/Jeff, If you and the rest of the boys are not going to Pomona for the roadsters, I guess that will take me out of it too. I really have enjoyed our trips but now it looks like I will be making the long haul your direction. (Remember Camp Verde with the folks from So Cal speed shop? My daughter called tonight and they will be moving there in July. Her husband will be Chief of Police and as a vet she really wants to work at Out of Africa wild animal park. Bet that means trips at least in that direction for me)

  • Well it looks like we will all be heading back to the Burger joints every Friday and Saturday nights! Just like we did in the 50's, 60's, and 70's.
Remember how we had to scatter when the police came in to the lots? Now the police officers are 1/3 our ages!

    What Happened?

  • Insurance cost for events of this size is not cheap, and release form that are sign "They are not responsible for injury or damages " is not good enough anymore. Good Guys latest attempt for a event in Central Florida did not fair well in there 3rd year , I bet the Road course event liability was high and not enough participants, Our Club volunteered to help man the entree's so we were heard the complaints 1st hand, especially from Die Hard Old Timers I dealt with one that stated this was his last" Good Guys " event, if there is not enough money made to cover cost and make a profit its not worth to them , the Good Guys Folks That we dealt with were awesome People

  • I kinda heard that also. I also heard the location may change to the racetrack. Could be the beginning of the end. I will wait and see.
