  • First off I have seen nothing on here that says the roadster started the fire as I guess we assume that. Give Dixie time and he will tell the rest of the story when he is ready. My thoughts and prayers are still with you here in IL.

  • These stories are just terrible! I'm glad everyone is safe and unhurt!

I have a kill switch on the floor which kills all electric current in the car. Every time I leave my car, I switch off the power. I had an electric window switch hang up in the 70's with no fuse. Scarred the hell out of me when all that white smoke started filling up the car.

Don't worry Dixie, you can re build that car back better than it was! Just like they did to "The Six Million Man".
Your house will be better also when you move back. Sometimes takes about a year though.

    Keep on,
    Mike

  • Bummer, Jim.
At least you 2 are OK.
Ignition switch ? Spade connector fall off ?
Bad splice on a primary cable ?

  • Looks like the hot spot was under the dash right in the center ! As you can see the fiberglass gel is burnt out but not the hairs not . Definitely electrical short ! Sorry, Jim for your baby loss !

  • Do you think it started under the dash? Why did the paint on the hood peal rather than burn? Just trying to learn.
How bad is the garage? Structural damage? Tear down and rebuild? if so, how about raising the roof and put in a 4 post lift?
    House full of smoke? Water?
That car was a quality build and has really put down the miles, weird that something shorted.
