1940 Ford 2-dr Coupe - $31,000.00
This 1940 Ford Street Rod/Show Car is a very unique car (old school with some high tech features). I was told by the previous owner that it was a dragster and “campaigned” in Wisconsin and Minnesota many years ago. Then the owner decided to convert it to a Street Rod/Show Car. Obviously, he spent a good deal of money, time on the car, and had a good sense of humor (see the graphics). The previous owner purchased the car from his estate and brought it to his home in Florida. It now resides in one of my airplane hangars in Centennial, Colorado.
It has a steel body with fiberglass fenders. The paint is very nice, and almost “glows” in the sunlight. The graphics are all hand painted. It shows very well, and draws a lot of attention at car shows.
The engine is a small block Chevrolet 350 CUI (not the one used when it was a dragster), and the transmission is a 700R4 with a Cheeta SCS shifter. The engine is stock, runs strong, is very reliable, and runs cool. It has a one wire, 100 amp alternator. It has power steering with rack and pinion, and a tilt column with a custom steering wheel. It has a Mustang II front end with Heidts suspension and the rear is a 4 Link suspension. It has four wheel power disc brakes, Wilwood on front and Aero Space on the rear with drilled rotors. The rear end is a 9” Ford (gears unknown). It has air ride front and rear (Air Tech Shockwave), and has had a recent wheel alignment and toe set. The controls for the air ride are located in the glove box. It has chrome Hugger Headers which are piped into 4” Flowmasters. It has external positive and negative battery terminals and a power shut off with removable key, all in the rear underneath the tail lights. The battery is located behind the right rear tire by the tail light. The fuel cell is an 18 gallon capacity. The trunk release button (popper) is located under the dash (“T”). The doors are “shaved” with a cable release under the driver’s side floor board. It does have turn signals which operate correctly along with driver and passenger side rear view mirrors. Headlight switch is under the dash (“L”).
The rear tires are Mickey Thompson Sportsman 33X19.5-15LT and the front are 185/65 R15 and are all mounted on Weld alloy wheels.
It has power windows on both doors which operate perfectly. The interior has “vestiges” of its dragster days with the “roll cage”, but it does not impede entry or exit. The seats are comfortable and operate manually. The engine gauges are Bosch. It has a GPS speedo/odometer. It also has a very neat Sony sound system with many “high tech” features such as navigation, hands free mobile phone, mp3(play your saved music) using your iPhone or Android phone, AM/FM bands and time and temperature, and option for rear camera. Complete documentation for the air ride, Sony sound system and GPS speedo is provided with the car along with “tips of operation”.
It is a very fun ride, however I am selling as I have decided to sell the airplane hangar where I store it along with others, and do not have an alternate space.
