Electric Power Steering conversion option
I installed an Electric steering kit on a 1947 Desoto. No modifications were done to the stock suspension.
It was not too complicated and it works well. It has adjustable assist. Total cost was about $900.

  • good job! I looked around for my '36 Chevy Sedan 350/350 1978 and tried the electric Volvo PS pump on the fire wall. WRONG. These cars have no space on the firewall and the Volvo pump is HUGE. so needless to say I just installed PS rack in place of the manual Mustang II that the PO installed. Even that was tight. The fan belt keeps the bolts polished on the brackets on the water pump. Good luck and keep on power steering!

  • It can be mounted anywhere on the steering column. This is a mock up I made to know where I wanted it. A styrafoam ball and a Prinbles can.

  • I guess I did not think these were mounted in the cab.
